The Jobb

Inspired by the philanthropic initiative “La Boulangerie Française” in Vietnam, JOBB (Jeunesse of Bakers & Barista) is a charity program offering intensive training in bakery, pastry and coffee making, as well as internship opportunities at French style bakery shops or five-star hotels, to marginalized youths (17 to 23 years old).

Our Objective

Become the leading philanthropic example of dual-system based vocational training in bakery and barista, and to partly achieve financial sustainability and independence through our social enterprise.

JOBB leads to Job!

Our Mission

JOBB’s free training program enrolls 20 - 30 students per year through a strict and transparent system to ensure that we provide high-quality training to those who need it the most.

We partner with NGOs that will recommend and follow up with students who join us.

Based on the popular European work-study training concept, the curriculum allows students to master bakery and gain life skills by alternating weeks of training and weeks of internship at international hotels or local French style bakeries during one year.

The Jobb

We will try to open La JOBB Café corner, the first in Shanghai to operate as a socially responsible enterprise. We will not only sell to the public the products that the students have practiced during the training to fight against waste, but also allow the students to face the customers directly, and adjust the recipes of the products through their online and offline feedbacks, in order to achieve the goal of not losing the connection between the teaching and the market demand.

This experiment also helps to foster entrepreneurship among the students, allowing them to gain more management-related knowledge beyond pure skills acquisition; and of course, it is one of the ways in which the public can learn about more diversified forms of philanthropy.
